Unamono silk scarves, Edition 9- The Poppy Field

One of 3 editions of silk scarves I designed for German label Unamono.

Each edition is made up of 150 unique illustrated designs.

Art Direction by David Kuntzsch and Anja Grewe. Visit unamono.com for more info and the online store.

Unamono editions are designed based on a narrative from the lives of the label's titular characters, Una and Mono. My editions follow their surreal journey to the opening of the Vienna Secession at the turn of the century. The Poppy Field is the 'last' of the three, as the two characters settle into the poppy field on Karlsplatz to enjoy a light breeze.
The poppy design is intended to have a similar effect as a traditional repeat pattern, but is an organic non-repeating design. This allows each scarf to be different and gives a more modern look to the final product.
I rarely ink digitally but at this scale it was the best option, and I inked these designs with a Photoshop brush by Kyle Webster
The full illustration is a long strip, with masks allowing for changes to the colors of each element in Photoshop. Guides were used to slice the strip into about 20 unique pieces.

A few of the 150 unique variations in this edition. The variation arises from slicing the full illustration- which itself is coloured in many different schemes- into different sections.
Digital output onto silk twill.
The scarves come in a beautiful embossed box with a certificate of uniqueness.
