A Yosemite Winter

By far the best time to see Yosemite is after a winter storm. Fresh snow coats the walls of the valley, creating a striking contrast between light and dark. And on lucky occasions, a layer of gray fog hugs the cliffs, adding to the mood of the scene. I'd been dreaming of witnessing these conditions in the valley for years and was lucky to finally capture this phenomenon this February. Using a 500 mm lens, I fired off rapid shots as the fog undulated and shifted every second. By shifting ever so slightly, I was able to find an entirely different (yet equally awe-inspiring) scene. Focusing in on the details of the valley walls was very enjoyable, and allowed me to come away with many unique shots, something which is surprisingly challenging in a place like Yosemite. I hope you enjoy these images, and thanks for looking.
