ANV is a sci-fi film about a young stargazer cadet named Ava, voiced by Pamela Baldeon Triana, who works for a mysterious agency. Ava decides to disobey direct orders and ends up in the middle of a close encounter conflict that forces her to decide where her true alliances reside.

I created ANV using 3ds Max software and rendered it with the Redshift 3D render engine. I used Character Studio Biped to create the character rigs and Realflow and Phoenix FD software for the fluid simulations. Motion capture was created using Adobe Mixamo and was also animated by hand with the aid of motion capture. I used Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator for texturing and Adobe After Effects for post-production and effects. The film was edited in Adobe Premiere, and the sounds were sourced from the library at Epidemic Sound.

It took me two years to produce ANV, the production start date was November 2020 and I finished in November 2022. I'm proud to say that I created the entire film by myself.  ANV has won awards at film festivals like:
-BEST ANIMATION FILM & CINEMATOGRAPHY award for October 2022 at the New York Cinematography Awards http://newyork.cawards.org/
-Official Selection award at Lift-Off Global Network First-Time Filmmaker Sessions 2023

I hope you enjoyed learning about the creation of ANV. Thank you for reading!

Director's Statement
My short film ANV is a compilation of Storytelling ideas and Sci-fi concepts I've had in my head for years. It also was a way to explore single artist independent animation workflows.

Most of my animation career I've created short from commercial work. When I was coming up with the story and script I definitively made a huge effort to develop a longer narrative, this helped guide the visual approach for a very effective animation pipeline for a single artist.

ANV was created to have a nonstop engagement narrative style without compromising story beats and dramatic rhythm.

Even if you watch the film once, you will find more details on subsequent viewings.
