Laminate is a bi-lingual magazine that aims to link Japan and the UK through coverage of fashion, culture and arts in both countries. At its initial inception, the client required a logo, press pack and some mock spreads for the launch of Laminate Magazine. The logo needed to reflect the connection to Japan and so the typography had to work with both the English and Japanese versions of the word "Laminate". The press pack was then designed to work with a fold out mechanism and it is bound by a ribbon with the logo repeated as a pattern over it, a concept influenced by the kimono.
