Material: chamotte clay. Dimensions: 47 cm * 47 cm. Molding method: manual molding from the reservoir. Decoration method: painting with overglaze paints, decals. Temperature of hard firing: 1150 C. Temperature of poured firing: 1000C. Decal firing temperature: 850 C.
Project concept
Our apartments, our houses are like big anthills… What are we all doing now in our “cages”? Reading, cooking, fighting, watching TV? Are we alone or not? What are we thinking? What do we feel? Do we have the same thoughts? Is it only in the film Rear Window (1954, Alfred Hitchcock) that life in other people's apartments is so fascinating, or is it in our windows too?
In this project, I tried to comprehend and answer my own questions with the help of clay. I imagined what the rooms and the people in them might look like if the front wall in a multi-storey building suddenly disappeared for a second, exposing us to a section of the floors.
