Introduction -

I tend to love music-based branding projects, they're fun, the clients are usually unique and the scope is wide enough to touch all the different points of design: Logo Design, Type System, Responsive Web Design, Stationery, the works.

I was approached by this local Austin boutique music studio, Treaty Oak, before their construction started. They wanted to create a new type of studio for emerging musicians. This would be a space where young artists could develop their skills, record their music, and grow as artists. As a branding designer, I was ready to sink my teeth in and bring their vision to life.

First Read -

The boldness and recognition of the text in the brand identity system are crucial elements that tie the overall design together. The use of bold text helps emphasize the key messaging and adds a level of confidence to the brand, while also ensuring that the text is easily legible and memorable. This is particularly important in an industry like music where there is often a lot of competition and it's important to make a strong first impression.

Social Presence -

I was all about making sure their social media posts were the cleanest and clearest they could be while still emphasizing the brand's values. They needed to serve a purpose beyond just looking pretty, they had to communicate functional information about the studio to their potential clients and artists. Knowing this, I made sure each image was not only aesthetically pleasing but also easy to digest, showcasing above all, availabilities to make accessibility as easy as possible.

It was a balancing act, but it was all worth it. The outcome reads as professional and trustworthy with a unique, creative twist. First impressions are everything, and I wanted to make sure the studio's message was communicated loud and clear (pun intended).

Web Design -

The website had to be the backbone of this music studio's online presence. It needed to communicate the studio's functions and services effectively and clearly, all while staying cohesive with the rest of the brand. So, I made sure to emphasize functionality in the design, but not at the cost of aesthetics. But most importantly, I made sure it was user-friendly and mobile responsive, so the studio's potential clients and artists could find the information they need with ease. This required me to have a strict and reduced text hierarchy and also use the imagery in very specific ways. It was all about creating a seamless and memorable brand experience.

Conclusion -

Throughout the project, I learned a lot about the unique needs and wants of musicians and how they want to be viewed by their audience. The brand's identity system, including the logo, colors, website, and social media, accurately reflects the inclusive and supportive nature of the studio and appeals to the young and emerging artists it aims to serve. I can't wait to see the success this music studio will have and the amazing music that will come from it.
