Sebastian Barreneche's profile

UAW Global Organizing Institute - FSJA | Miami, FL

With the UAW’s Global Organizing Institute, a team of fellows and I developed the Florida Student Justice Alliance. We created and executed plans to recruit and mobilize volunteers from university campuses and the community to support Nissan Mississippi workers' campaign for the right to organize.

As Creative Director, I produced and delivered multi-media materials for the campaign (some of those below); conceptualizing interactive approaches to organizing, including informational games, video and photo opportunities, uses of QR barcodes and other technologies, etc.

We scouted partner opportunities and formed alliances with FLIC (Florida Immigration Coalition) and Freedom Flicks—where I acted for both as organizer and liaison—UWD (United We Dream), SWER (Students Working for Equal Rights), Dream Defenders, Save Dade, and other progressive and social justice advocacy organizations. Further, we built relationships with campus activists and community leaders in order to raise public awareness about the campaign.
