Playing cards are a very complex system of information. There are multiple systems such as the face cards, number cards, as well as different suits within one large system. The goal is to make the cards relate to each other not only within their own system but across all of them as well while retaining their own individuality. The theme for my deck is fracture, an aesthetic of things breaking apart and cracking. I illustrated every card with pencil in an abstract way yet still retaining legibility.
