Friday May 2nd, 2014

uNDOCUMENTA (1/3) is an exhibition of work from a collaboration between the Immigrant Worker Center Collaboration (IWCC) of Boston and SMFA students engaging in a social pratice through the Media Arts Seminar: Community & Public Practices.

1/3 of the workforce in the U.S. are contingent workers, 20% of whom are undocumented.

The goal of the Immigrant Worker Center Collaborative is to unite and strengthen worker centers to organize for immigrant worker rights and develop the leadership of immigrant workers on the job and in society.

LIBERTY TREE
This is a symbol of freedom, embedded in the history of the United States as a country made up of Immigrants. Trees are strong, growing and changing; they are sources of protection and gathering. This is what the organizations of the Immigrant Workers Collaborative Coalition provide to undocumented workers and immigrants seeking equal rights in this country. Their voices are their power. I have transformed their voices into a visual form.
