An artwork submitted for 3M NAFA Wall Graphix Design Competition, and won first place by votes.
The requirement was to create a graphical wallpaper, inputting graphic design history in the artwork.
My design was inspired by the history of Chinese characters and watercolour painting. It celebrates my Chinese heritage. The modern Chinese character for "fish" was derived from a pictogram. The evolution of the character is shown below.
Koi fishes were chosen because they have a huge significance in Chinese culture – they represent perseverance and endurance.
