Monogram Logo Project

This is the final design of the Classy Fig monogram logo I created for our Monogram Logo Project. This project involved many steps from drafting a creative brief, to generating thumbnails, to utilizing illustrator to vecotrize our drawings, and more. This project was one of my favorite assignments for my DDN-101 course as it felt the most realistic for what I would see as a project in my field as a Marketing Major with a Graphic Design Minor. Although, it was one of the more lengthy assignments, I feel as though this was one of my best works and I really like how the monogram turned out.
Here is the creative brief where we got the opportunity to dive a little deeper into the consumer audience of who we were trying to design our final logo for. This specific section entailed a considerate amount of background research in order to obtain all of the relevant demographic information needed to truly understand our client's consumers.
After we obtained a solid understanding of who our client was and what type of audience we were trying to appeal to with our logo design it was time to start iterating sketches. Utilizing the different principles of design that we had previously learned in our DDN-101 course, we were required to sketch forty-eight different options for a potential monogram logo. This project highly emphasized the importance of understanding the formation of different typography fonts, thus in our drawings, it was key that we chose fonts to take inspiration from and essentially mimic for our final design concept. The fonts in which we were alllowed to utilize for such project included Serif, Sans Serif, and Slab Serif. No Script, Novelty, or Display fonts were to be allowed as we were attempting to display appeal within our designs and not with the fonts alone.
After iterating the forty-eight different thumbnails, we transfered our ideas onto Adobe Illustrator. Here we explored the tools Illustrator had to offer and attempted multiple techniques to achieve different logo concepts.
Here is where color comes into play! After choosing our best monogram logo, we then got to select an array of color options that fit best with our clients brand. Because the Classy Fig is a more upscale restaurant who is known for their drinks, I decided to choose colors that emulated wine and crackers. My favorite part of this section was coming up with the different names for the color pallete.
Finally, when the design was chosen and the color was added we selected mockups to display our monogram logo in a realistic lens. The creation of a pitch deck was made to highlight the different digital roughs along with the color pallete and mockups to simmulate what interacting with a real client would entail.
