Workers of Peré Lachaise

A school project, that’s what this is.

I spent most of last week at Paris with the company of nine inspiring photographers, attending a workshop about Visual Storytelling (following my growing interest for documentary and longer projects) lead by the experienced Ed Kashi. One of the things expected from myself, apart from being there every morning to attend the master classes, was a very small photo project, with all the photos, editing and sequencing done with Ed’s supervision.

After some thoughts and projects that didn’t happen I ended up shooting a slightly gloomy subject: Perè Lachaise, the iconic cemetery and burial ground of artists. But my main focus would not be Jim Morrison’s grave or the many who visit it, but those who dig the graves and keep the stones good looking, and to my surprise many of them actually spoke the same language as me.
