Portfolio: Other Print Items

These are not Identity pieces but also not booklets, so I call them Other Print Items.
"Lock Up" is a modern version of an illuminated manuscript.
I created all the art in Adobe Illustrator: the ornate L on parsley leaves, the leaves on the border, and the lock.
"Order and Chaos" is the basic exercise of grid-based and dynamic layout, using required text and numbers. I wanted to imply one unified piece, so the bottom section of "Order" looks like it could spread down into the top section of "Chaos." Or perhaps it is the other way around?
"Sun Bath" is my version of modern Russian Constructivism under the San Antonio, Texas sun.
The company in the lower right corner is real.
All the artwork is mine.
"Star in Type" is a basic typography exercise of four hand-drawn panels. Geometric lines were allowed, but no graphic art. I wanted to create one unified piece made of four sections. I achieved it with the appearance of a star, in one of my first attempts at the use of Gestalt closure or proximity. I scanned the panels and put them together in Adobe Illustrator.
"Lord of the Flies" shows off my own creative typography.
In this basic typographic exercise, I wanted to demonstrate how the same word can look different in different fonts. Using the word "gem" in two different ways appealed to me.
