blue and yellow mustang 1966

"blue and yellow mustang 1966"
40 x 50 cm collage on plywood (car is colored pencil on paper)
The drawing is based on a transfer of a photograph I took from the car. It gives me a rough, very light foundation and adds a certain kind of vintage character to the finished result.
Here you can see the difference between the drawing and the transfer. This kind of foundation is very variable in color, structure and intensity.
I wanted to see how the finished drawing corresponds with torn up pieces of newspaper.
In order to create some haptic stars and stripes, I cut out plastic templates.
I applied some modelling paste around the templates.
I tore off and cut away parts of the paper so that the drawing could fit in harmoniously.
The modelling paste gave me an interesting structure to work with. The golden colour complements the blue mustang and the reflection of the yellow mustang.
A thin layer of white acrilic paint gives more harmony and depth to the background.
All elements come together and create a multilayered image.
