NBP Sponsors All Pakistan Wheel Chairs Cricket Tournament
Karachi May 27, 2011: All Pakistan Wheel Chairs Cricket Tournament commenced at Karachi Parsi Institute Cricket Ground (KPI). The tournament was formally inaugurated by Commander Shaukat Ali Shah, Additional IG, Special Branch, Sindh Police.
Six teams are participating in the tournament from all over the country. The tournament will be played on knockout basis with total of five matches taking place. Speaking on the occasion Javed Raees, President, Disabled Welfare Association said that the teams and players should be encouraged by the society as these youngsters are involved in positive constructive activities despite their disability. This is an omen for the entire society which is otherwise facing many challenges. There are many countries in the world and Asia who have formed Wheel Chair Cricket teams and it is time for Pakistan to work on the same lines as many outstanding players are available on the national horizon. This area desperately needs government support.
Final of the tournament will be played on Saturday May 28, 2011 at 4:30pm after which price distribution ceremony will take place. Mr. Imam Buksh Baloch, Senior Executive Vice President, National Bank of Pakistan will be the chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony of the tournament
