'BERT' Character design

I started off by playing around with shapes to get certain emotions out of my characters. I started with circles. Typically these are loveable harmless characters with soft personalities as a circle would suggest. Many are sad or worried but I kind of switched it up for the two at the bottom.
Next I tried triangles which are most associated with villains or aggressive characters. I had no agenda for this character so I was open to making him into anything.
Next I tried Squares which are blocky and often stubborn brick walls of characters. I don't know why my mind instantly went to farmers for both of these designs. So far the square ones were my favourite. The one on the top was my favourite though because he looked to have more passion and anger in him. I took inspiration from a bulldog with the cheeks going past his chin, strong underbite and large protruding bottom teeth. From this I got the name "Bert"
Here are some alternate head designs and shapes for the character I ended up using.
I then gave some of my favourite head designs bodies to see how they looked and if I preferred them.
I did not
Next I tried taking the original design and stretching, bulking or shrinking some of the features of Bert
The initial colour I sprang for was different shades of red which are typically angry colours. however here are different colour schemes I tried.
Here is a more organised colour sheet. On the top we have the original colours.
Number 2 is a warm scheme which is similar to the original but he has a orange undershirt and darker skin.
Then there's a Night time one with subtle blue shine on it and a dark cold colour scheme.
The last one is a bit different. I went a bit obscure with the colours. The purple in it would typically be my go-to umbrella colour. It's just what I see umbrellas being. Over that is yellow which is my raincoat colour. His shoes are green to represent wellies which I don't think is just me assuming they would be green. There is more of an intense shine on the coat and skin. I wanted to show that they'd be more of a shiny surface and a different type of material.
Here are turnarounds in order to get more familiar with Bert's layout.
