"Rotura - Rupture"
This video was one I worked on during my time interning at the IDEA Lab at AACC. The video covered the artist talk by Marta Pérez García for her exhibit "Rotura - Rupture" that was displayed at AACC's CADE Art Gallery, as well as a quick compilation of the art on display. While I was not able to attend the filming of the talk on this occasion, I was the one who worked on the edit and captioning, as this was to be sent back to the people at the CADE Art Gallery for posting on social media.
This video was very interesting to work on. The video did not require too many visual edits apart from touching up the brightness and saturation. A few times during the talk I added pans of the artwork that was currently being talked about, however I felt that for the most part it wasn't necessary as most of the other pieces were discussed briefly. To make sure each piece of art was included, I included a short compilation following the talk that allowed the viewer to view the art in a bit more detail, panning across most pieces, zooming in on those that needed it such as the more tall and skinny pieces of art. Otherwise, the rest of the editing went towards editing the audio, balancing the parts where it peaked or was too quiet.
The other major thing I worked on with this was the captions. As this was being posted to places like Instagram, they opted to use baked-in captions added within Premiere rather than external captions. This was my first major time working on captions, and it was a really interesting experience. The biggest obstacle I had to work with was Marta's accent and talking speed, which in combination made words much more difficult to place in some cases. While working on them I also found that I had to research certain things to make sure I'm captioning the right words, one major example being the bit where she discussed the kinds of inks she used. I also discovered captioning can be quite time consuming, especially for a video that is a little over 30 minutes long.
