Slow Chopstick - Utensil Design

“Slow Chopstick” is a simple design inspired by a inconspicuous little object - single end toothpick.

Single end toothpick is actually having a very tiny design detail in the tail part. The fluted design in the tail of the tooth pick is a very old japanese traditional design which can help breaking the end easily. The separated end is design for keeping the toothpick untouched to the table and hope the user reuse the same toothpick again.

This kind of small detail can definitly show the dedication and the careness of japanese even a tiny object. And, we can see that japanese designer is truely doing human centered design. From the observation of the toothpick design, we start to think of how to change a bit to tell people a big thing. What we want to say is the rhythm of our life. Is it too fast? Yes, definitly. So we soildfy the design concept into giving a introspection to the user about the rhythm of our life.
