Phra Mae Thorani
Womens rashguard and spats fightwear design created for Gaidama Brand. This concept was inspired by the story of the goddess Phra Mae Thorani who was tasked by Buddha to defend against the demon Mara and his army. Phra Mae used the power of water, which flowed from her long hair, to defeat Mara's army.
Phra Mae Thorani is also referred to as the Earth Mother goddess and she is frequently depicted in sculptures and decorations in Thailand.

The demon Mara
The majority of the artwork was first sketched and then inked out on the iPad using Procreate. Then the line art was transferred to my desktop where I converted the lines to vectors using LiveTrace in Adobe Illustrator. The colour palette was based on a variety of photo references of Thai fabrics, paintings and sculptures.
