Game Boards
Quest of Princess Flama

I was commissioned to create six game boards with educational content. All boards were connected, creating one huge board with the final six pieces. They had paper mechanisms that changed the look on them.
I received a brief with notes on the storytelling and the steps the main character had to cross during their path. Also, there were specific plants and animals, weathers and landscapes that went on their specific board. I worked with a team of paper engineers, the story developers, layout designers and team managers.
I've received the information on the maps, the elements that will go and the amount of mechanisms. Then I did a quick thumbnail of the basic layout and the team placed the paper mechanisms on top, so I worked on the sketches with the mechanisms in mind.
I also designed the characters and elements, and added to the main story. I worked alongside other illustrators that created small workbooks to accompany the map creation.
This is a very long project with a lot of images, but I wanted to share all the process with the final images and videos, so bear with me and I hope you enjoy it!

Characters and Elements
Here is a small selection of different elements I designed for the boards.
Also the main characters that appear on the story.
Ella and the Golem where the main reappearing characters. Ella was turned into a statue due to an enchantment that the kids needed to solve. The statue was then broke in six different pieces (that was used as a puzzle), that the children needed to collect each time they defeated a Golem, that blocked the entrance to the next quest.
Some minor characters that appear on Quest 1.
Sketches for Ella and early concept of the Golem. We decided that the flora growing on the golem will be related to the particular flora on each quest.
