This was a retouching project done for the artist Zoe Crosher.

As part of her Michelle duBois project, where she examines a photographic collection of the woman in question, she produced four limited edition books, that go by the name of "The Unveiling", "The Unraveling", "The Vanishing" and "The Disappearance of Michelle duBois".
The project interested me because she analyses several questions that I find interesting, such as the idea of a static Self in contradiction with the ever-changing condition of that same Self, along with a more direct questioning of the role of photography as a medium, the archive and documental aspects as well as the importance of contextualisation when creating the narratives that are present in these four books.
She does this by presenting those images of the archive in a very interesting manner (there are images that are present in more than one book, yet, due to the remaining images in each book, they assume a different connotation) plus she includes some of her thoughts and texts which help shed light into many contemporary questions surrounding the medium, the archive and the notions of identity/self.
I prepared 70 images of the 4 different books, all with slight variations, in order to produce a homogenised series for presentation to the Aperture Foundation for a forthcoming project. The images had to be carefully edited to match the look of the real book and without removing the details and nuances of the print and of the original images as well.

It's one of the major, if not the major, photography dedicated publishing agencies, that works with some of the most well-known photographers/artist working with the medium in rather interesting and unusual ways.
