The parabolic was a student project undertaken to understand the nuances of techno aesthetic detailing. The brief was to integrate a collapsible chair and a canopy both visually and functionally. It was designed as an exhibition chair.
Ideation
Form exploration
The stainless steel gives structural strength to the canopy. The material chosen for the canopy was Nylon. Wear and tear pads protect the canopy’s hinge. Poly carbonate backrest and seating with stainless steel ribs provides comfort to the user. The telescopic joint serves as an arm rest and supports the chair. It is made of stainless steel and requires high precision work.
The chair collapses backwards with the help of the telescopic joints and the canopy folds due to the hinge. Buttons are provided in the telescopic joints for opening and closing. After use, the user can lean this chair against the wall to add to the beauty of the room. This chair can go in environments such as outdoor exhibitions, garden etc.
