Yin Yang
This delicate paper cut-work talks about the eternal gender cliches in the society. It is the classic Tao symbol that represents not the opposites but the two complimentary forces. Wintout one the other has no meaning. They both need each other to survive. The gears that divide the two cliche traits, suggest that all these traits exist because of their counterparts and that they can just as easily transfer over to the other side. 
The Yin or female or the negative has objects carved out of it, making the negative space meaningful. The Yang or masculine or the positive has the objects embedded in paper, with the surrounding space cut away emphasizing the positive.
