Sweet Peaches Gig Poster

This was such a fun project to work on. My purpose in this project was to create a gig poster for a fictitious band. The audience I'm targeting are country fans. I wanted to express the feeling of home and coming back to your roots in this poster.

Sketches

I actually started out with a word map before I started sketching to help give me some ideas. A lot of my ideas came from my childhood just because I grew up in the country. I also related a lot of my sketches to home and how home feels because I felt like that's how a lot of people who listen to country feel.

Drafts

This was my first draft, but I felt like the roots at the bottom were a little distracting and didn't quite fit in with the rest of the design.

My second draft I got rid of the roots. I wanted to add more to the background though like a path. In the end I got rid of the path because it wasn't working very well with the rest of the design. I received some great feedback after this draft though. I made the design overall look more clunky like my guitar strings to make the poster more unified. I also added the head stock to the top of the guitar to just give it a more finished look. Another thing that was pointed out that my tree looked like the symbol of a tree so it was suggested that I break the symbol system.

Final Poster

To finish this poster I added the name of the band and concert information. I typed it on a wavy path to match the rest of the design. There's very few straight lines in this poster so I felt like it worked well. To help this poster have a more country and old feel I added a distressed wood texture. Another thing about this poster that adds to the country feel is the lack of order. It's clunky and kind of random and honestly reminds me, and I hope others, of home.
