This is environmental graphics and signage project for sports hall in Rijeka, designed by 3LHD. The plaza lettering was randomly arranged from 4-toned pentagonal ceramic tiles, to create a vibrating pattern and cover the whole exterior of the building. We offered to explore the pentagonal shape and pattern matrix in order to create a typeface. We were hoping to place a super-graphics / sign for the Centar all over the exterior of the building. We ended up with large-scale "logo" "Centar Zamet" in the plaza-area.
For the interior signage, we wanted to create a functional signage design that will respond to the sophisticated and transparent nature of the architecture. Together we concepted a typographical system that resides on unified stroke thickness for each type size. We ended up having 5 different type sizes in the building, yet each was of the same thickness. That gesture made tall letters look very thin, and smaller letters look more bold. Nikola designed typeface and pictogram set exclusively for this project: "Typonine Zamet".
