MY DATA RESUME
About:
This visualization is based upon my skill set, the various job positions I have held, and my work history plotted on a timeline. In short, this is a creative way to displaying my resume, with a data professional spin.

The left side of the viz showcases some of my more prominent talents and skill sets I am most proud of. Moving to the right, you can see how these disparate skills have woven into a job I have held, or sometimes how that skill applies to multiple jobs. Then, those jobs weave into a timeline that begins in 2010 and runs to 2023, and shows my education and work history.

Project Background:
Previously I enrolled in Diana Estefania Rubio's data visualization course on Domestika to learn some of the techniques she uses when approaching creative data visualization. While taking her course, I was incredibly impressed by her data resume. I found it to be the most creative solution to display someone's background in design and data. Excited by recently switching to a career in data analytics, it was time to update my resume.

Creative Process:
To begin, I simply tried to recreate the amazing resume data visualization Diana Estefania Rubio crafted (see above) that served as the base inspiration for this project. This was a fantastic learning experience, as I picked up some new editorial layout and Illustrator techniques.

From this re-created base, I began to roll out my personal edits and design touches. I opted for a landscape (horizontal) layout so it reads as a more traditional timeline, from left to right. Accessible color palettes are a must, so I used the colorblind-friendly palette from Tableau Desktop.

In future versions, I plan to soften some of the hard angles by applying a slight curve to bend them, and exploring this in a light-theme version.

Visual Inspiration:
The sources of inspiration for this visualization were heavily inspired by a combination of the outstanding data resume created by Diana Estefania Rubio and the famous 'Tube' aka the London Underground map, designed by Henry Beck in 1931.
