Walkabout in Ambleside

Spent the afternoon on Walkabout in Ambleside, a market town in Cumbria such a quaint outdoorsy little place steeped in history, culture, and literature. Ambleside is a renowned base for hiking, mountaineering and mountain biking. It has a number of hotels, guest houses, restaurants and shops with several specialist shops selling equipment and supplies to walkers, backpackers, cyclists and climbers. Ambleside is a popular starting point for the Fairfield horseshoe, a hillwalking ridge hike and access to the Kirkstone Pass. An eclectic concentration of ten pubs or bars within a quarter-mile radius reflects how well the local hospitality market serves residents, tourists, visitors and the growing student population associated with the University of Cumbria. Of particular visitor interest is the Market Hall, Bridge House, and the Armitt Library & Museum. #ambleside
