Molecular Love
It is an art book made by collecting diagrams from molecular biology books.
These diagrams are visual means of expression with a rational purpose
to explain the theory of molecular biology more effectively.
I have linked these rational images to a totally unrelated emotional concept,
‘love’. Ignoring the definitional meaning of the images,
I have connected the subjective feeling they visually give to adjectives.
As these adjectives attach the love songs’ lyrics to the images,
the diagrams are perceived as images with only shapes left,
not as a means of explanation with purpose.
This collection was made in the form of a book of lyrics,
with diagrams and lyrics of love songs that invade these diagrams in a small size.
분자×사랑
분자생물학 책에서 나오는 다이어그램들을 모아 만든 아트북입니다.
이 다이어그램들은 분자생물학이라는 이론을 좀 더 효과적으로 설명하기 위한
이성적인 목적을 가진 시각적인 표현수단입니다.
이러한 이성적인 이미지들을, 전혀 연관이 없는 감성적인 ’사랑’과 연결시켰습니다.
이미지들의 설명적 의미를 무시하고,
이들이 시각적으로 주는 주관적인 느낌을 형용사와 연결지었습니다.
이 형용사들이 가사로 포함된 사랑노래들을 이미지와 연결시켜줌으로써
다이어그램은 목적을 가진 설명의 수단이 아닌 형태만 남은 이미지로만 느껴지게 됩니다.
이 작업은 가사집의 형태로 만들었으며,
다이어그램들과 이들을 침범하는 사랑노래의 가사들을 작은 사이즈로 삽입하여 제작하였습니다.
