The tree theme runs strong - All classrooms at Pukekohe East school are named after trees - Kowhai, Titoki, Rimu, The Pines, Totara, The Oaks. Printed 'Acorns' are awarded to children by teachers for showing improvement in class for example, then one awarded acorn gets drawn out the hat at full school assembly and the Principal gives that child a special prize.
