Wolverhampton Consumerism Exhibition

For a project we had to do a small exhibition piece for the theme of Consumerism and also create a poster and banner for the Exhibition itself that had to be print-worthy.

Although it may be seen as a negative take on the issue I used a skull as the main image on my poster design. This was to go with the idea of life and how consumerism is linked.

Before we are even born people are buying things for us and purchasing things to ensure our well-being and then we continue to buy things and have to pay for things throughout our entire lives. Then sadly even after we are gone people will pay for our funeral or a service and consumerism is still present even in the presence of death.
We also had to have a 100 word sum up of our exhibition. For my piece I chose to create four reciepts that were set between the four main stages of growth - Baby, Teenager, Adult and Elderly. I made them so that you would have to look closely to distinguish what was our of the ordinary with them.

I also chose to do reciepts to work with the idea behind my Exhibition poster and having to purchase things through the entirety of our lives.

Life’s Receipt.

A receipt can be many things; A proof of purchase, a way of keeping a record or even an object of memory. We often keep receipts and find them buried within our pockets and bags, memories of purchases we can’t quite remember making.
And our purchases are not only a way of life but they can distinguish and define who we are as an individual and can often tell a story of sorts. A timeline through our lives and from the day we are born until the day we die, someone will be buying something for us. Ensuring our survival.
