Pink Bliss | Wedding Invitation

The Pink Church Wedding

The client for this project came to me with the "ES" logo from the beginning and asked for it to be incorporated into the wedding cards. The bride to be had her heart set on a fuchsia pink theme which evolved into softer shades over the planning of the wedding.

The couple's request was for the card to be "different", "nothing anyone has seen before", and to incorporate watercolour treatment, a wedding invitation card with a pocket to make room for the RSVP card and detachable map, and if possible - a sense of continuity and seamless design in the inclusion of the map and RSVP into the main card.

I took inspiration from a pair of loving sparrows to create the bridal concept to accomodate the logo the client had provided:
I tackled the watercolour aspect by mixing shades of pink and purple for contrast before spattering it over an A3 drawing block, which was then left to dry - scanned, adjusted in photoshop to get the whites crisp and darken the muted pinks to please the clients who were initially concerned over the pale theme.
The rich texture of the card stock allowed for the watercolour spatters to take on a richness it would have not otherwise had on smooth cardstock.
The invitation itself sat beautifully framed in an artisan border or bracket frame; which was continued on the RSVP and map headers.
The logo watermarked behind the invitation.
The envelopes were lightweight, but continued to keep in theme and design with the main card.

In the end, the client seemed to be pleased with the result and received many compliments as to the unusual nature of the card. All in all, it was a success.
