De Correspondent is a Dutch-language online journalism platform that focuses on analysis, investigative reporting, background and the kinds of stories that tend to escape the radar of mainstream media. De Correspondent aims to contribute, through innovation and experience, to journalism's ongoing transition into the 21st century. 

New Netherlands is one such innovation. Throughout 2014, correspondent Jelle Brandt Corstius will explore the The Netherlands, all the while asking how can it be better? For twelve months he will traverse the country and, having assigned each of the twelve provinces a different theme, visit a new region every month. Members can add their ideas via a special site, putting their initiatives on the map. Or as Corstius says: 'Stop bitching, start a revolution!'​​​​​​​
