In the early 19th century, during East India Company rule in India, Darjeeling was identified as a potential summer retreat for British officials, soldiers and their families. The narrow mountain ridge was leased from the Kingdom of Sikkim, and eventually annexed to British India. In today's date, the place is an attraction for thousand of tourist across the world. If I am not wrong, being in the State of West Bengal, thousands of tourist from West Bengal only visits this place around the year. The most suitable time to visit this place for summer retreat is March to June and to enjoy the glimpses of winter, one have to visit this place during the month of October to February.
