"Even when life is playing with you, you can achieve great things."
Příběhy sedmi hudebních skladatelů, kteří v mnoha ohledech neměli „na růžích ustláno“,
a přesto v životě uspěli a dokázali se prosadit. Spracování portrétů vychází z ich životních "nehod".
"I když si s Vámi život pohrává, můžete dokázat velké věci."
the book
Richard Wagner (1813–1883)
In 1839, he had to escape his creditors by sailing on a boat to England during a severe
storm. On his way he gathered inspiration for his great work The Flying Dutchman, which
forever changed the face of opera.

Sergej Rachmaninov (1873–1943)
In 1912 started to suff er from severe back- and headache, but Rachmaninov did not lose anything of his
virtuosity and his individual avant-garde style. On the contrary, in this very period he composed his best
works, such as the 4th Piano Concerto G Minor, or 3rd Symphony A Minor.

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750)
As a young boy, Bach wanted to become a pupil of organist and composer Dietrich Buxtehude and he did
not regret walking 320 kilometres just to hear Buxtehude. And we know very well that it was worth it.
Johann Sebastian Bach is reckoned for one of the greatest musical geniuses of all times.

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827)
Approximately at the age of 25 he started to have hearing problems. Beethoven used many devices
ranging from various types of hearing aids to a special rod attached to the sounding board of the piano.
His condition kept getting worse and in 1816 he became deaf. In spite of that, following this date
Beethoven composed his greatest works.

Niccolo Paganini (1782–1840)
For his whole life Paganini suff ered from various illnesses. In particular from priapism, Marfan
syndrome, and syphilis. At that time, syphilis was treated only with mercury, which partially suppresses
it, but has many side eff ects, such as pain or vomiting. However, these problems did not prevent Paganini
from becoming the best violin virtuoso ever.

Petr Iljič Čajkovskij (1840–1893)
Čajkovskij was originally an offi cer at the Ministry of Justice. However, very shortly he found out that a
career in state services is not his meaning of life. He decided to leave this well-paid job and to enrol at a
conservatoire. The world thus got one of the best lyrical composers of the 19th century.

Antonio Vivaldi (1678–1741)
Although he was born during an earthquake, his natural talent was not shaken. He became an infl uential
composer and violin virtuoso. He composed 50 operas and a huge amount of vocal and instrumental music. Nowadays, his violinconcertos The Four Seasons rank among the best known and most frequently played compositions of thisperiod.
