The Problem:
Our initial ask was to adapt an existing Egg McMuffin spot with a 290 calorie super treatment. However, we discovered that the 290 calorie fact was surprising news to most people – and therefore a big opportunity for McDonald's.
The Solution:
We created an original commercial built around the 290 calorie message – and focusing on the insight that few knew or were aware of.
The Results:
Egg McMuffin sales increased an incredible 42%.
This Hour Has 22 Minutes parodied the spot giving us added free media,
exposure and awareness.
The success of the spot led to a sequel to introducing the new whole grain Egg McMuffin.
