One summer, I was on the bank of a river and picked up a whole handful of water-washed green glass pieces, each formerly a piece of some bottle, a piece of a day of someone I didn't know, a piece of trash and a piece of summer cheer at the same time. I brought them home and they became part of my clay whale.  But it was too hot in the kiln, and they melted too much. Then I made a new whale, of white chamotte, and used a more heat-resistant blue glass from the store. The new whale in these photos, it does not have those summer bottle splinters and probably that's why it is a little sad.

Thank you for watching!
