This project was executed for the MSc in Creative Advertising at DIT.

 

Task:  Create awareness for WITNESS--a non-profit group providing video cameras and video advocacy training to victims of human rights abuses--using a series of typography-based posters.

 

Execution: The design of each poster incorporates the Arabic language to form the different visuals. Arabic was strategically selected, as the topic of each poster concerns recent human rights abuses committed in the Middle East. Both the “Silent Tree” and “Candle” concepts include a personal story from citizens who were affected by the uprising in Egypt and events in Syria, respectively. The “S.O.S.” concept contains a general message about Middle Eastern citizens’ need for video advocacy. It translates roughly as, “Our words betrayed us, but the picture showed the truth.”  Each poster contains a QR code that links (hypothetically) to translations of the story or message pictured.
