Packaging Design - Phuza Craft Beer

This brief required me to design packaging for a brand of my own creation, additionally following the Student Goldpack brief to design packaging that motivates purchase and use. Introducing Phuza Craft Beer. "Phuza" refers to what field guides on a game drive call sun-down drinks, often by a body of water. The design depicts animals that you would see at a water hole (giraffe and warthog) and just after sunset (bushbaby (a.k.a., Galago)). There are three different beers: a Mr. Longneck Pale Ale, a Galago Lager, and a Wort-Hog Stout (play on the word wort: referring to the ‘wart-’ part of ‘warthog’ and ‘wort’, the liquid that is extracted after all the ingredients have been mixed in the brewing process (before beer ferments)). The colours used are all brighter versions of sunset colours, strengthening the connotation to stopping for Phuza – enjoying real African beer under real African skies. I reached finalist status for this project in the Student Goldpack Awards and received a certificate of recognition from the WPO Worldstar International Packaging Design Student Competition.
