...Unfortunately, no one bothered to tell this to Aste.  Aste was the slowest cheetah in all the land.  Maybe even all of Africa!  Aste was also rather heavy.  He tried to get faster and lose weight.  He tried running and exercising, he tried changing his diet, eating everything from bugs (yuck!) to elephant (too tough) but nothing worked.  Aste was simply a slow, overweight cheetah.

The three cheetah’s ran with all their might chasing the car as fast as they could.  Asani was the first to give up.  He was simply too tired to continue and collapsed in a heap on the ground.

But what group could he join?  Every thing he had tried so far had failed miserably.  Could he join the zebras?  No he didn’t want to eat any more plants.  The hyenas?  No, they were filthy creatures who would eat anything.  The leopard?  Hey, now that was a great idea!  The leopard looked a lot like a cheetah but was bigger and stronger.  So he colored in his spots and tried to find a group of leopards to join.

What Aste didn’t know however, is that leopards are mostly solitary and hard to find animals.  After looking a long time for a leopard he finally found one named Lumbwi.  Aste asked if he could be his friend.  The leopard knew Aste was a cheetah so wanted to play a trick on him.  He said “if you can do ONE of the following you can join me.  Roar like me, climb a tree like me, or pounce on a gazelle.”
