BRaK: New Folklore

Bratislava Book Festival
11.—13. 09. 2020
Nová Cvernovka, Bratislava

Campaign for Bratislava Book Festival – citylights, posters, festival newspaper, merch (postcards and totebags) and printed matter in the area of Nová Cvernovka where the festival took place. A theme for the 7th volume was ‘New Folklore’. Visuals are based on bold typography and weird subversive illustrations: traditional cottage with flashing neon signs, two women in folk costumes caught kissing, the ritual of burning Morena in the locomotive, or Harry Potter in the infamous slovak political extremist's jacket with christian cross pin referring to the populist appropriation of cultural symbols and folklore. BRaK is the platform for small and middle publishers and other market key players, artists, graphic designers, illustrators, addressing the current issues and topics in the Central European region.
