Cannock Ink - Visual Identity

This is the final logo as it is used now by Cannock Ink Tattoo Studio, Staffordshire. I've shown a few shots of the progression of this logo from its original beginnings.

The client wanted ink drops, the machine, the process of tattooing and a clean simple identity that would be used across multiple platforms but still keep it's identity and meaning throughout all forms.

They were also trying to bring a new 'brand' of tattooing to the industry so they wanted a logo that reflected this and wanted it to be set apart from the common tattoo brands and logos.
This was one of the first basic drawings/ideas that was suggested by the client and then quickly vectored by myself, immediately I felt that this wasn't giving them an identity that sets them out from the common industry standard tattoo brands.
This was another way that the original drawing/idea was vectored, it still felt extremely over the top and busy, it needed to be made far simpler and cleaner to function as a brand for a company like Cannock Ink.
Eventually through breaking down the ideas and drawings into their simplest forms we ended up with the rough version below. The idea of the machine negative inside of the ink blob worked well even in its roughly vectored state.

As the company wanted the focus to be on the tattoos they were doing and not where they were they wanted the INK to be bold as there 'Ink' would do the talking in their brand.
And again, here is the final logo that was created once a fully vectored drawing of a tattoo machine was used with all its parts included to be accurate to a real machine. This logo is now used on all company stationary and across a number of formats including web, print and social media.
The logo and a slogan I created, these t-shirts were given out to all clients at the studio within the first few months of opening. It became a very popular saying and developed into a well known phrase in the area around the studio.
Below are shots of some of the pages on www.cannockink.com which I have created and updated over the past year and a half. It has changed numerous times, I brought the website away from a white on black theme simply because it looked extremely harsh and dark when the studio itself is themed around being bright open and the only colour being focused on the work the artists complete.
