I payed a tribute to one of my favourite artists, who left us
30 years ago (1991—2021)
—Serge Gainsbourg aka "Le Claqueur de mots"—
The illustration is a free reinterpretation of a photograph taken by Italian
photographer Giancarlo Botti.
The first version was a flat vector version. The new one is a
version with more depth, details, simulating a sprayed piece
—a stencil—that was my original plan: a real multi-layered stencil.
I could not make it as planned, for lack of time (health reason)
and no atelier to spray the piece. 😬
Well ... even though I couldn't make the stencil, I printed the illustration
and add some additional details using Posca (confettis 🎊) and luminescent sprays (Serge type),
then pasted the illustration on the streets from Paris, Copenhagen, London, Barcelona ...
– Close-ups –
— Maison Gainsbourg —
Close-up of the typeface (stencil – luminescent paint) and
Maison de Serge Gainsbourg: 14 rue de Verneuil, Paris.
This lovely "house" will soon be open as a museum dedicated to
Serge Gainsbourg.
Serge Gainsbourg.
Flat (v1)vs. Details (v2)
RIP Serge!
