Here's my Splash-inspired piece for Bottleneck Gallery's "It Came from 1984" group exhibition, featuring art inspired by the vast amount of quality films that came out in the year 1984. I wanted to be a mermaid when I was a kid, and I'm sure that fantasy was solidified by this grown-up reimagining of the Little Mermaid story, set in my hometown of NYC. Splash is equal parts rom-com, sci-fi/fantasy, buddy movie, fairy tale and action-thriller – and that's why I love it now as much as I did as a kid.
