Ibex photography in Pontresina

Ibexes, the kings of the Alps. Heraldic animal of Grisons, incredibly sure-footed and native to the steepest terrain in the Alps.

A hike brings us with heavy photo luggage into the habitat of these proud animals. It is autumn, the days are already short and we are on the road all alone.
700 meters further up, the Lej da Pischa, a mountain lake at an altitude of 2770 meters. Scree fields, no vegetation, but also no ibexes. The situation changes abruptly, however, when we encounter a herd of eight animals in Val Languard. Curious, attentive, but not shy, they watch us. Then it's time to set up the tripod, mount the telephoto lens and extenders and look for a good place to stand.
It's simply relaxing to observe these majestic animals in the wild, isn't it?
My setup consisted of the following components:
Fullframe camera with a 400 mm telephoto lens with 1.4x and 2x extender, mounted on a stable tripod with tele gimbal. Heavy, but it stays where it should be.
