Imprisoned Veterans Fight for Benefits
In the only advocacy program of its kind in the country, inmates Ed Munis and “Doc” Piper at the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad, California run a successful veterans service office, which helps ensure that incarcerated vets receive the benefits to which they are entitled. Navigating a labyrinth of rules and regulations, the pair has brought in millions of dollars for imprisoned vets and their families through careful research and hard work.
