Target Audience
Retiree Lab resolves the issue surrounding personal crisis in which “go-go elderlies”
(60-75) often encounter after transitioning from work to retirement. As Singapore’s aging population has risen, the need to cater for the needs of these elderlies has also escalated. Due to this reason, talks on having retirement body to prepare working adults for both pre and post retirement has frequently surfaced. Situated in Block 43 of Gillman Barracks, a retirement center with an indoor flower hydroponics and perfumery processing are proposed to accommodate “go-go elderlies” to have the support and means to undergo a fulfilled retirement, giving them the chance to contribute back to the society and have a healthier life through active aging promoted in the space. Young adults (18-35) looking for a side hobby or possible side business are to be mentored by the trained "go-go elderlies" in the space.

Vanda Miss Joaquim is the national flower of Singapore. Layout and built-in furniture are made to synchronize with the flower petals of the Vanda Miss Joaquim.

CEILING DESIGN
Ceiling design is inspired from the blossoming process of flowers which started out from a bud (one point). When the flower blossoms, the petals would bloom out and branch out from that one point. The ceiling panels are arranged to stack higher as it progresses further away from the center point.
