 About
Grow is a rainforest charity artzine, is a collective artbook, featuring 40+ illustrations by international artists, who came together after being shaken by the deforestation. It was a spontaneous answer to the disaster occuring the Amazonian rainforest in 2019. The initial team behind this project, was a group of six french artists: Mistral, Celi'arts, Ttorubie, Ludmila, Adeline Fleuve and Supermesange. They have decided to create an asociation and launch collective and charitable projects. Grow artzine was the first one...

In October 2019, the team lauched a crownfounding campagn to finance the artbook. Each participating artist was volunteer and all the profits has reversed to a NGO : The Rainforest Trust.

 Brief

The theme choosen for the artbook was naturally The Rainforest with a great freedom of interpretation

 Stretch goal

During the campagn, the contributors reached the 200% stretch goal and allowed them to include twelve new artists on the artbook. I was one of them with the pseudonyme est-elle.fr. I was really shaken and concerned
by the disaster of the rainforest, I lost my sens of worthlessness when I discovered this incredible project. The situation was urgent and Grow artzine teached me that our drawings could make a difference.

It has been a huge source of motivation for the next few years.
 SketchEs

When the twelve new places for other volunteer artists opened up, I attached a first sketch to my application to show my motivation. It was a quickly improvised sketch with mistakes compositions. The initial pose wasn't clear, the movement lacked fluidity, and I didn't find a visual balance. After a quick discussion with the team, we came to the same conclusion: my proposal could be improved.

If I can be honnest, I wasn't really enjoyed by my initial idea. So I quickly switched to a new sketch, with a more fantastic subject and I guess more poetic. I represented the spirit of the rainforest as a crying chimeria, in front of the disastrous fire .
 FINAL

Find the perfect color palette was my biggest challenge for this illustration. For a long time, I hesitated between realistic or mire fantastic colors. When I  discovered the colorful artworks of Oberndorfer Juliette by chance, I was finally able to choose. This is the final result published in the artbook.
