The project has been inspired by the trombone instrument, and more particularly by the extension of its
slide.

In a trombone the variation of the air pressure changes the musical note, in “Brass ensemble” air allows to variate the height of the lamps, taking advantage of a low-tech pneumatic system: the variation of the air volume inside the air chamber, permits the slide beetween two tubes of different diameters, allowing a telescopic extension of the lamp body.
The entire system needs a closed air chamber with a safety air valve, which allows the user to variate the air volume. When the weight force is equaled to the air compressed force, the system is balanced and the lamp stay in the position required.

The elegance and the charme of brass instruments, is translated by the smooth line of the design and the
polished brass richness.

The air valve has the same shape of a trumpet’s piston.
