Converse Rubber Tracks Live Poster Design

Converse gave me the opportunity to work on their "Coverse Rubber Tracks Live" poster. It was a wonderful experience because they gave me full artistic freedom. The only requirement was to make the headliner (Hanni El Khatib) the focal point plus 2 additionals bands in the illustration. Aside from that, they let me do whatever I wanted. Because they trusted me, I gave Converse everything I had on this piece. It's a fusion of my ornate style, plus classic vintage elements with the decorations, embellishements and flourishes. In the end, this was my most ambitious commissioned piece. Thank you Converse for this awesome opportunity.

WHAT IS CONVERSE RUBBER TRACKS LIVE?
Converse Rubber Tracks Live began as a free concert series taking place every other month at
The Music Hall of Williamsburg and is now expanding to other cities in the US. The shows feature
nationally known headline talent and Converse Rubber Tracks bands as support.

The initial sketch for the show. "Hanni El Khatib" was the headliner, along with "Tijuana Panther" and "Waters". The empty space on banner to the right is empty because the band "Waters" wasn't confirmed yet. You can also see the typo of Panthers Tijuana instead of the other way around. Hence the sketch phase.
Had to redraw the banner on the bottom because I had to figure out symmetry for "Tijuana Panthers" and "Waters" to fit. So I thickened the banner and increased the size for "Converse Rubber Tracks Live" also. I would prefer larger type for "Tijuana Panthers", but "Waters" is such a simple short word. I did what I could and it was a happy compromise in my opinion.
After the tight sketch was approved, I went ahead and inked the sketch. I used Copic Multiliner SP pens for this. I absolutely love those pens. It has replaceable nibs and and ink cartridges. So here is the ink drawing without any color.

The final illustration with color and all. Everything was hand drawn, and colored in Photoshop. The bottom portion was left blank because it will be filled with important info such as date and venue. Thanks for viewing!
