Evil Hat Productions hired me to design the cards and general branding for their new card game Zeppelin Attack. This game had probably the most complex and information-dense cards in any project I've designed so far.
The game includes Action cards and Zeppelin cards, each of which are sub-divided into numerous overlapping categories. I used borders, icons, backgrounds, and color schemes to communicate these multiple layers of information as quickly as possible. White border cards are your starting cards, each assigned to a different Mastermind character.
Further cards can be earned in play, noted by black borders. Zeppelins are always sideways because they come into play immediately upon drawing. Anything else may remain in hand until needed, so it was best to keep them upright. For consistency, icons and gameplay information are always on the left edge of a card. Victory points are on the top right corner.
